The Škoda Kamiq 130 Years Edition Arrives in Aus Fully Loaded

Škoda is deep into celebrating its 130-year journey from bicycle manufacturer to global automotive player, and the gifts just keep coming. Following special editions of the Karoq and the all-new Elroq, the brand has now pulled the covers off the Škoda Kamiq 130 Years Edition, a compact SUV that’s been given the full birthday treatment. Arriving in Australia this November, this special model aims to blend premium features with sharp pricing, making a strong statement in a fiercely competitive segment.

More Power, More Poise

At the heart of this celebratory Kamiq is the familiar and punchy 1.5-litre 110TSI turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Shared with the sporty Monte Carlo variant, this powertrain delivers a healthy 110kW and 250Nm of torque. That torque figure is noteworthy, placing it among the strongest in the front-wheel-drive compact SUV class, promising brisk acceleration without sacrificing fuel efficiency.

Dressed for the Occasion

Building on the specification of the Kamiq Select and Monte Carlo, the 130 Years Edition distinguishes itself with a host of exterior enhancements. It rides on striking 19-inch ‘Fornax’ alloy wheels and features chrome roof rails and window surrounds for a more premium look. Practicality and tech get a boost with matrix LED headlights that include dynamic cornering, tinted rear windows, and a power tailgate complete with a Virtual Pedal for hands-free operation. A subtle “130 Years” badge on the tailgate is the final nod to its special status.

Four paint colours are available, all included at no extra cost: Moon White metallic, Graphite Grey metallic, Race Blue metallic, and Black Magic pearlescent.

A Cabin Punching Above its Weight

Inside is where the 130 Years Edition truly shows off its value. Škoda has packed it with features often reserved for larger, more expensive vehicles.
Key interior highlights include:

  • Seating and Comfort: Leather- and Alcantara-appointed seats, a power-adjusting driver’s seat with memory, and heated seats for both front and rear outboard passengers.
  • Technology: A 10-inch Virtual Cockpit for the driver is paired with a 9.2-inch central touchscreen infotainment system featuring navigation and wireless phone charging.
  • Premium Touches: A heated, paddle-shifter-equipped steering wheel, a 10-speaker CANTON sound system, LED ambient interior lighting, and keyless push-button start elevate the daily driving experience.
  • Safety: Peace of mind comes standard with nine airbags and Škoda’s comprehensive Travel Assist suite, which bundles adaptive cruise control, Adaptive Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Škoda without the brand’s signature ‘Simply Clever’ solutions. This edition includes a double-sided boot mat, cargo nets, a storage net under the parcel shelf, and a handy waste bin in the driver’s door pocket.

The Smart Choice?

Škoda Australia’s Product Manager, Glenn Reid, noted that the model showcases the brand’s evolution. “From those humble beginnings now comes a small SUV that’s cleverly packaged, more generously equipped than ever and designed with a restrained, European elegance,” Mr. Reid said.
