Renault has announced that its famous Duster nameplate will return to the Indian market. Credited as one of the pioneers of the SUV segment in the subcontinent when it launched in 2012, unveiling of the new generation Duster is set for late January 2026 and its return is the next step in Renault’s Game Plan 2027.

The Duster nameplate has previously sold more than 200,000 units in India alone with international sales crossing 2 million units in total sales. Described as a “true legend” by Stephane Deblaise, CEO of Renault India, the SUV represented “a symbol of adventure, reliability and innovation.” Duster was one of the first B+ segment SUVs in India, a segment that now makes up nearly a quarter of new vehicle sales in the country.

India was the fastest growing car market last year and is currently the third largest in the world, representing an area of opportunity for Renault with the launch marking the next step in the French brand’s Game Plan 2027. Renault’s aim is to manufacture its vehicles as close as possible to their respective markets of sale, the end goal being better customer satisfaction. The new Duster will be assembled at Renault’s plant in Chennai as well as Latin America, South Korea, Turkey and Morocco as well.
