A partnership that dates back to 2004, Lamborghini and the Italian Police aka ‘Polizia de Stato‘ are celebrating 20 years of partnership. The agreement that has allowed a fleet of high performance vehicles to be used in community patrols and emergency medical response services. Over 200 organ transport “missions” have been completed during this time and 1,500 road safety education events.
Six Lamborghini vehicles have joined the Italian State Police fleet over 20 years, each with different abilities to offer. The partnership began with the first generation Gallardo which delivered its first organ transplant almost straight away, it was assigned to the Stradale unit in Rome and completed 140,000 kilometres by the end of its service. In 2005, a second generation Gallardo was delivered to the Bologna Polizia.
In 2008, the first two Gallardos were replaced by the Gallardo LP560-4, this was assigned to motorway patrol along the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway. It participated in the traditional Police Day parade in Rome, escorted the Targa Florio and represented the Italian State Police at Columbus Day celebrations in New York.
2014 saw the introduction of a Huracan to the Polizia, joined by a second vehicle in 2017, assigned to the Emilia-Romagna Traffic Police, it was used in a record breaking kidney transplant, taking the organ from L’Aquila to Turin to save the life of a 57 year old woman.
The latest car to join the fleet was a 2023 Urus Performante, delivered in Rome in the presence of Giorgia Melona, Italian PM and many other ministers. A symbol of the ongoing partnership between Lamborghini and the Polizia.
