Building on the success of its predecessors, the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6—both global award-winners—the IONIQ 9 introduces new dimensions of space and connectivity. Equipped with Hyundai’s acclaimed Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the SUV combines practicality with unparalleled design, showcasing Hyundai Motor’s leadership in electrification.

“IONIQ 9 embodies Hyundai Motor’s unwavering confidence in electrification and our commitment to creating new value for customers,” said Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor.

The IONIQ 9’s lounge-like interior encapsulates comfort and versatility, featuring a fully flat floor to accommodate up to seven adults. The standout features include Relaxation Seats that can fully recline in the first and second rows, a new Dynamic Touch Massage system to relieve fatigue on long drives, and innovative Swivelling Seats that allow second- and third-row passengers to face one another—perfect for family interactions or business discussions on the go.

The interior is also equipped with Hyundai’s new Universal Island 2.0, a slidable centre console that enhances storage and accessibility. For ultimate convenience, the console slides back up to 190 mm, providing easy access to both front- and second-row passengers. With a luggage capacity ranging from 620 litres (with all seats in use) to 1,323 litres (third-row seats folded), the IONIQ 9 ensures maximum practicality without compromising on elegance.

The emphasis on sustainability is evident in its interiors, which incorporate eco-friendly materials like Recycled PET Fabric, Bio Paint, and paint made from recycled tyre waste.

The IONIQ 9’s bold and aerodynamic exterior reflects what Hyundai calls an “Aerosthetic” design philosophy, combining aesthetics with advanced aerodynamic technology. Featuring a smooth, curved roofline, flush surfaces, and advanced dual-motion active air flaps, the IONIQ 9 achieves an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.259 Cd.

Parametric Pixel lamps—Hyundai’s signature lighting element—combine futuristic styling with practicality, while a long 3,130 mm wheelbase ensures a confident stance and spacious cabin proportions. For a sporty look, customers can choose from 19-, 20-, or exclusive 21-inch wheels in stylish designs.

The car’s visual sophistication is matched by functionality: hidden antennas replace traditional roof designs, improving both aerodynamics and aesthetics.

Under the hood, or rather beneath the cabin floor, lies the IONIQ 9’s 110.3 kWh battery. This high-capacity battery provides an impressive WLTP-projected range of 620 km on a single charge for the Long-Range RWD variant with 19-inch wheels. Hyundai claims the SUV will recharge from 10% to 80% in an astonishing 24 minutes using a 350 kW ultra-fast charger.

Three powertrain configurations will be available: Long-Range RWD: 160 kW rear motor, 620 km range, 9.4-second 0-100 km/h acceleration. Long-Range AWD: Dual-motor setup with a 70 kW front motor, achieving a 0-100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds. Performance AWD: Two 160 kW motors, boasting a thrill-worthy 0-100 km/h acceleration of 5.2 seconds.

The IONIQ 9’s innovative platform supports V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology, enabling the car’s battery to charge appliances and devices, making it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts or emergency scenarios.

With cutting-edge technologies such as over-the-air (OTA) software updates, Hyundai’s new AI-enabled Voice Recognition system, and the Features on Demand service, the IONIQ 9 is designed to keep up with the ever-evolving needs of its users. These features allow drivers to personalise their vehicle settings and download optional upgrades, adding new capabilities such as dynamic lighting or content streaming directly from an online store.

The digital cabin is reinforced by a panoramic dual 12-inch curved screen, offering seamless integration of the cluster and infotainment systems. Passengers can enjoy advanced features like 5.1-channel surround sound with the optional BOSE 14-speaker system or make use of fast 100W USB-C charging points for multiple devices—all powered by the high-voltage EV battery.

From Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) to Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA 2), the SUV is engineered to help drivers navigate safely in all conditions. Ten airbags, including advanced third-row seatbelt pretensioners, reflect the automaker’s focus on passenger safety.

Available in a wide range of bold new colours and luxurious interior trims, the Hyundai IONIQ 9 is as customizable as it is high-tech.
