They have just released one of their most opulent cars yet: meet the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, an open-air spectacle blending GT muscle with the elegance we usually associate with Maybach.
This isn’t your everyday SL. This is the sportiest Maybach in history, offering an unfiltered roadster experience with Maybach’s signature cocoon of indulgence. Something akin to a private gala on wheels? How about that.
Two head-turning visual themes have been curated for the debut: White Ambience and Red Ambience. While the former wraps the car in a gentle blend of Obsidian Black metallic over Opalite White magno, the latter leans into a rich red beneath the same black upper, and both are so befitting of the brand.
Inside, it’s a masterclass in light and texture. Crystal white Nappa leather flows across the interior like a bespoke yacht cabin, enhanced with silver chrome details and the new floral seat design. It’s plush, it’s airy, and it’s unmistakably Maybach.
On the outside, everything gleams. A glowing A-shaped grille steals the show, while rose gold accents in the headlights and 21-inch forged wheels ensure even the most jaded supercar fan takes notice. There’s even a chrome-finned bonnet available with a PixelPaint Maybach monogram applied to it. The process, which works somewhat like an inkjet, prints using over 1,000 ultra-precise nozzles.
But don’t let the delicate craftsmanship fool you: the SL 680 has the substance to back it all up. Beneath that sleek bonnet lies a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 pumping out 430kW and 800Nm of torque. That’s good for 0–100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. It’s all routed through a silky-smooth 9G-TRONIC gearbox and 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive for maximum traction. And if you want a change of pace to more silence, the SL 680 glides along in hushed elegance thanks to acoustic glass, foam-filled panels and a specially tuned exhaust
With semi-active hydraulic roll stabilisation, rear-axle steering, and Maybach-specific suspension tuning, it’s as composed in corners as it is comfortable on boulevards. Whether you’re cruising coastal roads or darting through Alpine switchbacks, the SL Monogram Series manages to feel both athletic and regal.
