Low cost Lexus due in NZ next year

As Lexus New Zealand goes from strength to strength, with record sales in the 11 months to the end of November, the marque is soon to welcome an all-new model to its range, the Lexus LBX.

Available in New Zealand at the beginning of 2024, the LBX will be the most attainable new Lexus in the line-up, with a price of $58,900 plus on road costs for the Active front wheel drive variant.

Built around class-leading Lexus hybrid technology, the LBX is aimed at the urban driver who wants an element of casual chic style matched with the sophisticated and refined Lexus driving experience.

Lexus New Zealand Vice President, Andrew Davis, says the new LBX offers the full Lexus experience to customers who may aspire to owning a Lexus but had not considered the brand before.

“The LBX is designed for a new generation of drivers. All the key elements of Lexus are encapsulated within the subcompact LBX – a brave and unique design, high quality materials and construction, plus a carefully thought through driving experience,” he says.

Slotting in under the popular UX crossover, the LBX is the first Lexus model to be offered in three ‘moods’ to match different lifestyles.

Rather than traditional Lexus ‘grades’ the moods reflect different lifestyles. Active stands out with 18” dark grey metallic and machined alloy wheels, a two-tone exterior, black synthetic leather seats, and comprehensive Lexus Safety System+ package included as standard.

The Relax and Cool mood offers a Panoramic View Monitor and 12.3” Head-Up Display. Relax rides on 18” dark premium metallic alloy wheels and has an Adaptive High Beam System. Inside the passengers can relax on black and dark gray semi-aniline leather accented seats while listening to a 13-speaker Mark Levinson premium sound system.

Cool rides on 18” black alloy wheels and features the latest Lexus Safety System+ and Lexus teammate (auto parking) with six front and rear parking sensors. It has a multi-colour interior illumination for passengers to dial up or down the mood, while enjoying their ride on a choice of either black or saddle tan leather and Ultrasuede™ accented seats.

Active is only available in front-wheel drive, while the Relax and Cool are available in front-wheel drive or E-Four all-wheel drive. Active and Cool are available in eight exterior colours with a two-tone ebony roof. Relax is available in nine exterior colours.

The pricing includes Lexus’ four-year unlimited kilometre new vehicle warranty, four-year unlimited kilometre full maintenance service plan, eight-year or 160,000-kilometre high voltage battery warranty, and the four-year Lexus Plus AA Roadside Assistance package.

The LBX is expected to draw attention and customers are advised to pre-order with Lexus dealerships to secure a priority order. Initial deliveries are planned to start from March 2024.
