The all-new TIGGO 7 and TIGGO X7 make their global debuts in China, as Chery looks to strengthen its family-friendly SUV line-up.

Chery has pulled the covers off two new SUVs, the all-new TIGGO 7 and TIGGO X7, at its 2026 Global User Summit in Wuhu, China, with the brand doubling down on its commitment to families and their increasingly varied lifestyles.
Held under the theme ‘Together. For Family’, Chery Brand Night brought together families from the UK, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Brazil and Ecuador to share their experiences of family life, alongside the global unveiling of the two new models.
Football legends and Chery brand ambassadors Peter Crouch and Edwin van der Sar also joined the celebrations, adding a little sporting star power to proceedings. But while the event was heavy on heartfelt stories, the two new SUVs were the real automotive talking points.

TIGGO 7: Built for the everyday family shuffle
First up was the all-new TIGGO 7, which Chery positions as an SUV designed around the realities of modern family life. Think school runs, daily commutes, supermarket missions, weekend escapes and the seemingly endless business of getting everyone where they need to be. According to Chery, the new model aims to make those journeys more comfortable and less stressful.
The company says the TIGGO 7 combines a spacious, comfortable cabin with a strong focus on build quality and safety. It is intended to cater for everything from urban driving to family outings, where practicality and peace of mind matter just as much as the badge on the bonnet.

Chery’s approach is built around a fairly simple premise: a family SUV needs to do more than look good in the driveway. It needs to earn its keep every day. While the global debut provides an early look at the new model’s intended role, detailed specifications, powertrain options and market-specific equipment have yet to be confirmed in the announcement.
TIGGO X7: Everyday SUV, weekend explorer
Joining the TIGGO 7 was the all-new TIGGO X7, the first model in Chery’s new TIGGO X series. Where the TIGGO 7 focuses on the everyday family routine, the X7 is pitched at households looking to stretch their horizons a little further. Chery says the new SUV is designed to combine the convenience of urban driving with the ability to tackle a broader range of road conditions.
In other words, it is intended to handle the Monday-to-Friday commute without throwing in the towel when the weekend calls for a trip beyond the city limits.

The X7 is designed to balance passenger comfort and everyday usability with the flexibility needed for family adventures, whether that’s a road trip, an outdoor escape or simply taking the long way home. It is an interesting addition to the TIGGO family, giving Chery an opportunity to build a more clearly differentiated SUV range around different customer needs.
However, exactly how the X7 will distinguish itself mechanically and technically from the TIGGO 7 remains to be seen. Chery has yet to release the full specification details in its announcement.
More than just a marketing slogan?
Chery’s ‘For Family’ philosophy was the central message of the evening, with families from six countries sharing stories about supporting one another through personal challenges, career changes and life’s everyday ups and downs.
Guibing Zhang, Executive Vice President of Chery Auto, said the philosophy was intended to influence how the company develops its vehicles and serves customers.

“‘For Family’ has never been just a slogan. It is the standard by which we build our vehicles and the purpose behind our commitment to serving families worldwide,” Zhang said.
Chery says it now has more than 4.55 million customers worldwide, describing that customer base as the foundation for longer-term relationships with families across its markets.
The challenge, of course, is turning that sentiment into products that deliver where it counts: safety, reliability, comfort, practicality and value for money. Those are the areas where family buyers tend to make their decisions, regardless of how moving the launch presentation might be.
What does this mean for New Zealand?
Chery has been building its presence in international markets with a range of competitively positioned SUVs, and the TIGGO 7 and TIGGO X7 give the brand two more models to develop that strategy.
For New Zealand buyers, the key questions will be whether either SUV is destined for local showrooms, which powertrains will be offered, and how pricing and equipment will stack up against the established competition.

At this stage, Chery has not confirmed New Zealand availability, local pricing or launch timing for either new model. The global reveal is therefore an introduction rather than a local launch announcement, with the finer details still to come. For now, the TIGGO 7 looks to be aimed at families wanting a practical all-rounder, while the TIGGO X7 promises a more adventure-focused take on the family SUV formula.
Both will need to deliver on those promises once the full specifications and market plans emerge. Because family-friendly marketing is one thing. Building an SUV that survives the school run, the holiday road trip and the inevitable back-seat negotiations is quite another.
