Named after the Renault Etoile Filante (meaning shooting star in French), a 1956 single seater vehicle that went on to set new land speed records for its time, clocking 300kph consistently over both 1km and 5km. The name also adorned a Renault concept car that set a record for energy efficiency last year. Now, it’s finally going to production!
As part of Renault’s ‘International Game Plan 2027’, Filante slots in as a high-end crossover, a major step forward as the brand continue to move upmarket. Its key points of difference being roominess and a high level of technology along with a “cabin conceived around the occupant well-being.”
Filante will be built in Busan, South Korea and will be unveiled in its local market this January, targeting the E-segment. This marks the second Renault in recent times to have been designed in Korea. From there, it will then be launched in global markets.
