The Polestar 3 is officially in the record books as it recently traveled 935.44km, the longest journey completed by an electric SUV on a single charge! Taking 22 hours and 57 minutes, the record run was achieved by a Long Range Single Motor 3 which returned an astonishing average consumption figure of 12.1kWhr/100km!
Three “professional efficiency drivers” were tasked with the challenge, swapping seats every 3 hours to remain alert. Officially, the Polestar 3 has a WLTP rating of 706km and the test car achieved this with 20% of battery remaining. Even at 0%, it delivered an extra 12.8km of range!
The achievement marks an incredible feat for Polestar whose attempt has been recorded by Guinness for their book of World Records. As it was an official record, the journey was GPS logged along with the battery level data, the car was proven to be completely unmodified, riding on factory 20 inch wheels with the standard Michelin EV tyres!
This run was a testament to how far battery technology has come in recent years with Polestar promising to keep pushing “the boundaries of technology and electric performance”. The brand are also confident that their record should serve well to dispel myths of range anxiety.
