Kia Australia officially unveiled the all-new Kia K4. This highly anticipated vehicle takes over from the much-loved Cerato and ushers in a dynamic new era of design, technology, and safety, all while maintaining the brand’s hallmark affordability .
Having graced Australian showrooms for 20 years, the Cerato is stepping aside after selling nearly 200,000 units since its debut in 2004. The transition to the K4 nameplate aligns with Kia’s global naming strategy, offering a model that’s longer, wider, and lower than its predecessor. The K4 not only introduces a sportier design but also debuts on a new platform, featuring advanced technology and safety features that cater to the evolving tastes of Australian drivers .

Launch and Line-Up: Catering to All Tastes
Initially available in sedan form starting in late January, the K4 range promises versatility for buyers with the addition of a hatchback variant slated for late 2025. The K4 sedan will offer four trimlines at launch: S, Sport, Sport+, and GT-Line. Powertrain options include a 2.0-litre four-cylinder MPI engine for the S, Sport, and Sport+ trims, while the top-tier GT-Line boasts a sporty 1.6-litre Turbo-GDI engine for increased performance.

Pricing details for the various trims will be disclosed closer to launch, but the offerings are designed to cater to a broad spectrum of buyers. Equipped with an extensively locally tuned chassis, the K4 is custom-fit to satisfy Australian driving conditions and preferences.

Packed with Advanced Tech and Safety
Kia places a strong focus on safety and technology across all K4 models. The vehicle is equipped with a suite of modern safety features, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go functionality, Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Follow Assist (LFA), Multi-Collision Braking (MCB), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Rear View Monitor (RVM), and High Beam Assist (HBA). These high-tech systems come as standard equipment, solidifying the K4’s status as a leader in its class .
Additionally, the K4 employs expansive digital displays and Over The Air (OTA) updates as standard, ensuring the car remains in sync with the latest advancements in technology over its lifecycle.

A New Era for Kia in Australia
Kia Australia’s Chief Executive Officer Damien Meredith expressed confidence in the K4’s ability to meet the demands of the continually changing automotive landscape, saying, “We believe the K4 is a perfect fit for Australian tastes as the Cerato’s successor, complete with the right styling, technology, safety, and driving characteristics to be competitive in this ever-changing landscape”.
With its bold redesign and comprehensive features, the Kia K4 is poised to redefine the small passenger car segment in Australia. For customers searching for a blend of style, performance, and advanced technology, the K4 sets a new benchmark.

The Kia K4 will debut in Australian showrooms by the end of January, with enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the unveiling of pricing and specifications for the range – we have yet to find out about New Zealand.
