Forza Horizon 6 Trailer Finally Drops, And It’s a Love Letter to JDM Petrolheads

The long-awaited trailer for Forza Horizon 6 has finally landed, and while the world has already dissected every frame, I couldn’t resist adding my own two cents, even if I’m a little late to the party. Playground Games looks to be upping the ante yet again, promising next-gen visuals, a revised car roster and a sprawling new open world, that seems tailor-made to get enthusiasts like us grinning.

That is because, if you’ve been a player of that franchise at all, you’d know that over the years, players have asked for one specific country to be featured. We’ve had incredible entries lately, full of real world locations throughout Mexico, Australia, the UK, but now we finally get Japan! As a JDM fan myself, I am counting the days.

From the sweeping landscapes to the unrealistic-but-irresistible high-speed runs through twisting roads, the Forza Horizon series has always been about getting friends together and deep into customisation, a topic that defined my car-loving journey. And yes, I’m watching this through my JDM-tinted glasses, and with a bit of skepticism: Forza, contrary to Gran Turismo, has always had a more USDM take on their car lists. And call me close minded, but the Toyota I want to drive through the streets of virtual Kyoto is a GR86, not a Tundra!

As a bit of “official” news, Playground Games has confirmed expanded tuning options, deeper car paint customisation, and a photo mode that frankly looks like it will devour hours of my life. Cross-platform play will return, along with dynamic seasons, but with even sharper detail: tyre marks stay on the road after drifts, puddles deform under weight, and headlights now cut through fog like they should. It’s polish, but the kind that makes every drive more immersive.

I may be late penning this, but this hype doesn’t have an expiry date, especially as we get closer to release. Forza Horizon 6 looks set to be the next playground for car nerds everywhere. And for us JDM tragics, it’s another excuse to spend hours fine-tuning pixel-perfect versions of cars we can only dream of owning. Can’t wait!

  1. Very poor writing to include an initialism in the title, then continue to use it all through the article and never once explain what jdm and usdm mean. Some of us have come to this article as it mentions forza horizon 6 and are not experts on cars. I read the whole article to try and understand the meaning and it’s nowhere to be seen.
