Auckland Fine-Dining Staple The Grove Announces Final Service in March
After two decades as one of Auckland’s most celebrated fine-dining establishments, The Grove restaurant is set to close its doors in March 2025. Renowned for its exquisite degustation menus and outstanding service, The Grove has earned a reputation as a culinary gem, even ranking as the ninth-best fine-dining restaurant in the world in TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards this September.
Owners Michael and Annette Dearth, originally from the United States, announced the bittersweet decision, citing the challenges of operating a fine-dining restaurant in a post-pandemic world as a significant factor. Reflecting on the restaurant’s legacy, Michael highlighted the mixed emotions behind the closure, describing it as a blend of “melancholy, joy, relief, hope, and opportunity”.
