The FC Barcelona squad had a day out at the Terramar Circuit, not just to kick tyres, but to properly experience the CUPRA range. This wasn’t just a promo event; it was about strengthening the bond between CUPRA and FC Barcelona, an alliance that stretches until 2029 and covers all of the club’s sports teams.
The main gig was letting the players loose on the track with the entire CUPRA lineup, especially the CUPRA Terramar, CUPRA Tavascan, and the ever-popular CUPRA Formentor. They weren’t just cruising; they were putting these machines through their paces with acceleration tests, tackling the circuit’s banked corners, and weaving through slalom courses . Sounds like a proper petrolhead’s dream. CUPRA’s Chief Brand Officer, Ignasi Prieto, was on hand to welcome the team.
After the track session, the players got to spec out their own CUPRAs, choosing everything from paint colors to interior finishes . A few players and the coach also test drove CUPRA’s VR experience, exploring virtual 3D versions of the CUPRA Tavascan and CUPRA Terramar. Furthermore, they got a sneak peek at the CUPRA DarkRebel, a concept car showcasing CUPRA’s future design and performance aspirations.
Here’s a rundown of who picked what: Marc ter Stegen went for the CUPRA Tavascan VZ (340PS), while Hansi Flick, along with other players like Iñaki Peña and Lewandowski, chose the CUPRA Terramar VZ eHYBRID (272PS). A whole bunch of players, including Jules Koundé, Pablo Torre, and Héctor Fort went for the CUPRA Formentor VZ (333PS). The custom cars will be delivered to the players in the coming weeks.
CUPRA sees this partnership with FC Barcelona as more than just a sponsorship. They are also the official automotive and mobility partner, premium sponsor of the World Padel Tour, and the official sponsor of the eSports Club Finetwork KOI. They’re even involved in Formula E racing.
