In a bold move signaling its electric future, Acura (AKA Honda) has officially announced the return of the iconic RSX—this time as a next-generation electric vehicle (EV). Reimagined and engineered atop Honda’s new proprietary EV platform, the RSX will carry forward its legacy of performance-packed appeal while introducing cutting-edge technology. Scheduled to be Acura’s second all-electric SUV, the RSX reprises its nameplate with a coupe-like silhouette that melds nostalgia with futuristic innovation .
Built on the innovative Honda EV platform, the RSX will debut Honda’s proprietary ASIMO OS—an operating system unveiled at CES 2025. ASIMO OS promises to transform the driving experience, leveraging advanced automation and connectivity features to cater to tech-savvy drivers of the future . This flagship electric SUV will also highlight the capabilities of the Honda EV Hub, set in Ohio, where it becomes the first model off the production line later this year .
To ensure real-world readiness, development testing for the RSX starts this week. Early prototypes wrapped in design-forward camouflage by the Acura global design team are hitting the road. These wraps blend intricate patterns with sleek, light-emulating motifs to showcase the RSX’s striking lines and evoke strength and inner power. The design speaks to Acura’s vision of next-gen automotive aesthetics, where functionality meets visual dynamism .

According to Mike Langel, assistant vice president of Acura National Sales, the RSX bridges the past and the future: “The nameplate pays homage to the Acura RSX with its coupe-like silhouette, but it truly represents a forward-looking approach to fun-to-drive performance.” This introduction sets the tone for Acura’s ambitious EV strategy while complementing its array of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, including the ADX, TLX, and Integra. Notably, the debut of the 2025 Acura ADX this spring will round out Acura’s premium offerings, combining luxury and performance in both electric and traditional powertrains .
As Acura pivots to electrification, the RSX is not just a revival of a beloved name, but a bold symbol of its commitment to combining heritage with innovation. With cutting-edge technology underpinned by ASIMO OS and a forward-thinking design philosophy, this all-electric premium SUV may very well solidify Acura’s place as a contender in the EV market for years to come.
