A new luxury home for Lexus of Auckland city

Customer service excellence, design excellence and performance excellence will have a new home in
the form of Lexus of Auckland City’s new purpose-built facility in Newmarket. Opening in October 2024, the new home for Lexus of Auckland City will be a welcome addition to the luxury automotive precinct at the Newmarket end of Great South Road.

Giltrap Group went back to the drawing board in creating what is a truly customer-focused location,
which foregoes the typical exterior car yard and sales office format. Instead, all the facilities, from
customer lounge, product displays and offices are indoors, leading to a more comfortable and pleasant
experience, no matter the weather outside. Even customer parking will be within the new building.
Customers will be able to view new models, relax in the café-style customer lounge and take delivery of
their new vehicle on the first floor. The business side of purchasing a new or used Lexus will take place in
the vehicle sales representatives’ offices on the ground floor.

Founded in 1990, Lexus of Auckland City is New Zealand’s original Lexus dealership, but after 34 years
on Great North Road, the increasing popularity of Lexus has meant they have outgrown their current site.
Lexus of Auckland City Chief Executive Officer Sharlene Van Dijk says her team looks forward to
welcoming all customers, current and new, to the new site later this year.

“Lexus is about sumptuous interiors, beautiful design and the best in automotive technology. We really
wanted to reflect those qualities in our new home of excellence,” she says.

Lexus New Zealand Vice President Andrew Davis says the new dealership symbolises one of the core
brand values of Lexus – omotenashi which means to ‘wholeheartedly look after guests’. The new building
is reflective of where Lexus as a luxury car marque is heading in New Zealand.

“Customer service is at the heart of the Lexus experience. In a Lexus dealership customers are a valued
guest, where knowledgeable people are on hand to help, whether it be to test drive or purchase a vehicle
or have your vehicle serviced,” he says.

“We and our dealership partners are very much in a growth mode with Lexus. We had a record year in
2023, reaching more than 1,300 new vehicle sales, more than 90% of which were electrified.
“The investment in new dealerships from our partners highlights the strength of our brand, and our
excitement for the sustainable future of Lexus here,” he says.

Dane Fisher, Giltrap Group Chief Executive Officer, says the opening of a new site for Lexus of
Auckland City marks an incredible milestone for both Lexus and the Giltrap Group.

“I want to say a huge thank you to the Lexus customer base and our amazing Lexus of Auckland City staff
who have made this new investment possible,” he says.

With a focus on brave design and driver experience, Lexus has been building out a stable of highly
desirable premium vehicles. This year, the range has expanded with an entirely new model, the LBX, a
perfect compact hybrid SUV for busy Auckland streets.

The new Lexus of Auckland City development follows hard on the heels of a new dealership for Lexus of
Christchurch, which officially opened in May 2024. Both indicate the commitment to the marque from
the Auckland and Christchurch Lexus dealership partners, Giltrap Group and Miles Group.

The new Lexus of Auckland City dealership will officially open in October this year, while the current site
on Great North Road continues to operate as normal until then.
