Aston Martin and Glenfiddich Release Limited-Edition 28-Year-Old Single Malt

The latest bottle from the two British brands spent nearly three decades in casks and reaches the United States and select airports in January 2027.

What do you do when your car brand already has a Formula 1 team, a bespoke paint department and a back catalogue full of icons? Apparently, you put it on a whisky bottle. Aston Martin and Glenfiddich have launched Glenfiddich 28 Years Old, the latest limited-edition release from the two British names.

The whisky goes on sale in January 2027 in the United States and at select international airports. Neither brand has published pricing or bottle numbers in the material released so far.

A Partnership That Started in Las Vegas

The collaboration began at the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix in 2024. Since then, the pair have built a growing collection of limited-edition bottles, and this 28-year-old release is the newest addition.

Car makers have long lent their badges to lifestyle products, and Aston Martin frames this one around shared British heritage. At least the partner here is another established British name, not a random accessory with wings stuck on it.

Nearly Three Decades in Oak

As the name suggests, the spirit has spent close to 30 years maturing. Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman combined several oak influences to shape the final whisky.

It starts in American oak, followed by a spell in virgin American oak. According to the distillery, that second stage brings out vanilla and spice. Two more cask types complete the recipe:

  • European oak Oloroso sherry-seasoned casks add further depth of flavour.
  • Traditional ex-bourbon casks bring the orchard fruit notes Glenfiddich is known for.

For those of us who think in mechanical terms, it works a bit like a multi-stage tune, with each cask adding its own layer. These are the distillery’s own tasting descriptions, though, so your palate gets the final say.

Podium Green and Copper

Aston Martin’s design team worked with Glenfiddich on the packaging. It pairs Podium Green with copper accents and the distillery’s familiar stag emblem.

The brands say the design draws on the flowing bodywork of Aston Martin’s supercars and hypercars. It’s a neat visual link, even if no bottle will ever need a rear diffuser.

Laid Down During a Turning Point

The timing adds some history. When this whisky first went into casks in the late 1990s, Aston Martin was developing Project Vantage, the concept that eventually became the Vanquish.

Meanwhile, the V12-powered DB7 Vantage was making way for a new era at the company. So the liquid started ageing just as Aston Martin was shaping the car that would open its next chapter.

Why It Matters

This is brand-building rather than engineering news. Still, it shows how Aston Martin uses its British identity, and the F1 stage where this partnership began, to reach people well beyond the showroom.

For collectors, the 28-year age statement is the main appeal. A whisky laid down while the Vanquish was still a concept now arrives in Podium Green, and that link in time is what sets this bottle apart from a simple co-branded label.
