Škoda has always had a knack for building clever cars, machines that blend everyday usability with a dash of Czech character. Now, the brand is turning that recipe electric, and its latest creation, the all‑new Škoda Epiq, is gearing up to become the brand’s most accessible, most affordable BEV yet. Launching in the first half of this year, the Epiq is designed from the wheels up to bring electric mobility to the masses, serving as an urban-friendly SUV crossover that’s big on practicality but light on complexity.
The Epiq is the first production car to wear the brand’s full Modern Solid design language. Think clean shapes, robust proportions, and a minimalist philosophy that runs through every surface inside and out. It’s also Škoda’s first model to utilise the new front‑wheel‑drive MEB+ platform, an update designed to lighten, simplify, and maximise space for the new generation of smaller electric vehicles.

According to Škoda CEO Klaus Zellmer, the Epiq plays a starring role in the brand’s strategy to double its all‑electric portfolio by 2026. It lands as the most affordable Škoda EV to date, with prices in many markets aligning closely with the combustion‑powered Kamiq, effectively eliminating the usual EV price barrier for new adopters.
Škoda is already enjoying momentum in the electric space: in 2025, the Elroq and Enyaq ranked second and seventh in Europe’s EV sales charts, placing the brand well within the continent’s BEV top five. By adding a city‑orientated crossover to the lower end of the range—and preparing a seven‑seat Peaq for the upper end—the company is making a clear push to widen its EV net and build a truly comprehensive battery‑electric lineup.
The Epiq also forms part of the wider Volkswagen Brand Group Core urban EV initiative, joining the Cupra Raval, ID.Polo and ID.Cross to deliver affordable electric mobility through shared tech and economies of scale.
Compact Outside, Surprisingly Spacious Inside
Although it sits as the smallest EV in the Škoda lineup, the Epiq is built to handle real family life. Its footprint is comparable to the Kamiq, but thanks to EV‑optimised packaging and the MEB+ platform, its cabin feels more like that of a car from the next size up.
At just 4171 mm long, 1798 mm wide and 1581 mm tall, it’s compact enough to wriggle through tight city streets, while a 2601 mm wheelbase ensures generous legroom for passengers. Škoda says agility was a key priority, and with instant electric torque plus nimble handling characteristics, the Epiq should feel right at home on winding roads as well as urban corridors.
Boot space is a standout at 475 litres—75 litres more than the Kamiq and among the largest capacities in the segment. Fold the rear seats, and the volume expands to 1344 litres, while the cabin adds nearly 26 litres of extra storage through various compartments. And naturally, it wouldn’t be a Škoda without Simply Clever touches: cable-storage bag, door‑mounted umbrella, parking-ticket clip, and even an ice scraper made from recycled material.
Modern Solid: Minimalism With Muscle
Škoda’s new design language is fully expressed in the Epiq, and it’s arguably the most visually distinct small EV the brand has ever produced. From the highlighted O‑shaped air intakes with active shutters to the practical yet stylish Volcano line front section, aerodynamics and aesthetics are cleverly intertwined—resulting in a drag coefficient of just 0.275.
The rear bumper emphasises rugged SUV character, with an unpainted lower section that doubles as protection for carparks and loading zones. Wheels range from 17 to 19 inches, all designed with aerodynamics in mind.
Perhaps the biggest visual statement is the all‑new T‑shaped LED light signature, the first time Škoda has applied this motif to a production model. It’s used both front and rear and will form a key identity marker for future models. LED headlights come standard, with an upscale Matrix‑LED setup available for greater illumination and adaptive performance on all road types.
Interior – Clean Lines, Cosy Vibes, and Conscious Materials
Inside, the Epiq feels purpose-built for modern electric living. The layout is minimalist, horizontal, and decluttered, with ambient lighting enhancing its feeling of warmth and space. The same Modern Solid ethos carries into the cabin’s textures and shapes, resulting in a look that is both functional and sophisticated.
A 5.3‑inch driver display is paired with a standard 13‑inch central touchscreen, your command centre for infotainment, navigation, charging functions, and everything in between.
Customers can choose from three interior Design Selections (Studio, Loft and Suite) each using 100% recycled PES seat textiles. Loft and Suite include Techtona, a synthetic leather alternative, while the top‑spec Suite adds embossed Suedia and Tabora Brown accents for a warmer, premium flavour.
Powertrains: Efficient, Punchy, and Tailored to Your Needs
Three variants sit within the Epiq range:
- Epiq 35 with 85 kW and a 38.5 kWh LFP battery
- Epiq 40 with 99 kW and the same 38.5 kWh LFP battery
- Epiq 55 with 155 kW and a 55 kWh NMC batteryThe LFP units prioritise longevity and low weight, while the larger NMC option packs higher energy density for the longest range—up to 430 km WLTP.
DC charging varies by model, topping out at 133 kW for the Epiq 55, which can charge from 10 to 80% in just 23 minutes. All models support 11 kW AC charging as standard.
Safety and Tech: Big Features in a Small Package
Despite its compact stature, the Epiq inherits advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies normally reserved for larger, premium EVs. It includes Travel Assist 3.0—Škoda’s most advanced system to date—offering lane assistance in both directions across the entire speed range and the ability to respond to traffic lights and “Stop” signs using online‑updated traffic‑sign data.
A four‑camera Top View system provides a 360° bird’s‑eye view for precise manoeuvring, while Cross Assist 2.0 helps detect approaching cars or cyclists at blind intersections.
