KGM Gives The Rexton A Major Tech Injection For 2026

KGM (you know, the brand formerly known as SsangYong) is bolstering its presence in the competitive large SUV segment, announcing a significant update for its Rexton range for the 2026 model year (in Aus, NZ to confirm). The refreshed lineup brings a suite of modern technology and safety features as standard, aiming to make the robust seven-seater an even more compelling proposition for families and adventurers alike.

The biggest news for the MY26 Rexton is the inclusion of electric power steering across all models. This upgrade paves the way for the standard fitment of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), bringing the Rexton’s driver-assist credentials right up to date. A fresh face has also been applied, with all models now sporting new LED headlights featuring a distinctive C-type DRL design and slick sequential indicators.

The Trim Trail: A Walk Through The Range

The Rexton continues with a four-tier lineup, though the “Adventure” trim has been renamed “Advance” for the new model year.

KGM Rexton ELX:
The entry point to the range is anything but basic. The ELX now boasts leather-look seats and comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, and a comprehensive suite of safety features including Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Warning (RCTW).

  • KGM Rexton Advance:
Building on the ELX, the new Advance model adds a layer of convenience and luxury. Key additions include a power tailgate, 8-way powered front seats (with driver’s lumbar support), heated and cool vented front seats, and heated second-row outer seats. For those with kids in the back, new pull-up sun blinds for the rear doors are a welcome touch.
  • KGM Rexton Ultimate:
Living up to its name, the Ultimate trim lavishes occupants with premium features. You get a powered sunroof, premium quilted leather seats, a 3D 360° camera, ambient interior lighting, and the convenience of a wireless phone charger.
  • KGM Rexton Sport Pack:
For those wanting a more aggressive look, the range-topping Sport Pack adds a distinct visual flair. It builds on the Ultimate with exclusive Black leather and suede seats, suede interior trims, shadow chrome 20-inch alloy wheels, and a host of black and shadow chrome exterior accents on the grille, tailgate, and roof rails.

Ownership is backed by KGM’s 7-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, which importantly includes commercial use, plus 5 years of roadside assistance. With this tech-focused refresh and sharp pricing, the MY26 Rexton certainly makes a strong case for itself on paper.
