Peugeot has unveiled its new 5008 Hybrid, a “class-above” large SUV that combines sophisticated design, advanced technology, and family-friendly practicality with an efficient, self-charging powertrain. Built on the new STLA Medium platform, this up-to-seven-seater vehicle offers a premium experience without the need for plug-in charging, starting from $67,990 + ORC.
Efficient Hybrid Performance
At the heart of the new 5008 Hybrid is an advanced powertrain designed for efficiency and ease of use. It features a HYBRID 145 hp engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. A key advantage is its self-charging capability; the battery automatically recharges during deceleration, eliminating the need to ever plug the vehicle in. This system allows for the pleasure of pure electric driving for more than 50% of the time during urban travel, depending on driving style and battery charge.
This efficiency translates to significant real-world benefits, including a notable reduction in fuel consumption—up to 15% less than an equivalent petrol engine. The combined fuel consumption is rated at 5.1 L/100 km (NEDC), with combined CO2 emissions of 116 g/km (NEDC) . It’s important to note that these figures can vary based on factors like options, driving style, and external conditions.
A Cabin of Comfort and High-End Technology
The interior of the 5008 Hybrid is designed to be a generous, modular, and comfortable space for up to seven occupants . The second-row seats can slide and tilt, and an easy-access function simplifies entry and exit for third-row passengers .
The driver is treated to the new PEUGEOT Panoramic i-Cockpit, which features a stunning 21-inch floating and curved HD panoramic screen that sits neatly on the dashboard. The high-end GT trim further elevates the cabin experience with sporty, dynamic seats upholstered in TEP imitation leather and fabric, ambient lighting, aluminum pedals, and a heated ‘GT’ steering wheel.
