Designed by Nissan’s London-based Design Europe team, the new MICRA presents a bold, SUV-like aesthetic emphasizing clean lines, sculpted surfaces, pronounced wheel arches, and a distinctive lower lip. These elements, combined with 18″ wheels across all grades—each with unique designs—give the MICRA a strong and dynamic road presence suitable for urban and suburban adventures.
Signature details include iconic headlamps with a playful “welcome wink” animation and sophisticated LED taillamps with circular lighting elements. One standout design element is the “ice cream scoop” waistline: a subtle side indent reminiscent of a fresh scoop of ice cream, imparting character and playfulness .
A broad palette with 14 exterior color combinations (including two-tone options) lets buyers personalize their MICRA to match their style, whether they prefer understated elegance or head-turning flair.
Interior: Comfort, Heritage, and Innovation
Inside, the MICRA evokes simple, understated elegance—a nod to its legacy—with Japanese design influences like a molded Mount Fuji outline in the central storage space. The driver interface features a substantial three-spoke steering wheel and dual 10.1” high-resolution screens: a fully configurable instrument display and a slightly driver-oriented touchscreen for infotainment, navigation, and vehicle controls.
Buyers can select among three distinct interior trims—Modern, Audacious, and Chill—each offering tailored upholstery and ambient cabin lighting with 48 adjustable colors, establishing a customisable atmosphere for every mood . The careful selection of materials and finishes ensures both comfort and quality.
Space and Practicality: Compact in Size, Generous in Use
Despite its sub-4-meter length and under 1.8-meter width, the MICRA maximizes interior space thanks to a 2.54-meter wheelbase that pushes wheels to the car’s corners. For the first time, the MICRA features an all-electric powertrain with two battery options:
- 40kWh: 90kW max power, 225Nm torque, up to 192 miles range, 1400kg weight
- 52kWh: 110kW max power, 245Nm torque, up to 253 miles range, 1524kg weight
These specs deliver ample performance for daily urban commutes and longer countryside journeys without range anxiety.
Charging is highly convenient, with 100kW DC fast charging (or 80kW for the 40kWh model) enabling 15%-80% charge in just 30 minutes. Standard heat pump, battery heating, and cooling ensure optimal efficiency in varying climates. Additionally, the MICRA is equipped with V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology, allowing drivers to use the car’s battery to power external devices—perfect for outdoor activities or meticulous car maintenance.
Ride, Handling, and Driving Experience
Engineered for responsive performance, the MICRA is lighter than many rivals. Its battery is situated low in the AmpR shared EV platform, contributing to a low center of gravity and balanced handling. An independent front and multi-link rear suspension—a rare setup in this segment—delivers best-in-class ride comfort and dynamic handling.
Drivers can tailor their experience using four drive modes:
- Comfort: Balanced response, efficiency, and driving ease
- Sport: Maximum power and torque, sharper throttle, heavier steering
- Eco: Focused on energy efficiency, smoother throttle

Advanced regenerative braking (adjustable via steering wheel paddles) and Nissan’s e-Pedal system enable one-pedal driving, allowing the car to come to a complete stop for urban convenience.
Advanced Technology and Connectivity
The new MICRA integrates seamless technology for a fully connected experience. The updated NissanConnect system, with Google built in, enables drivers to make calls, stream music, control navigation, and manage vehicle functions via voice commands with Google Assistant.
Google Maps is standard, providing real-time navigation with integrated charging route planning—suggesting charging stations as needed and pre-conditioning the battery for optimal charging speed. Over-the-air updates keep maps current, while Google Play offers a wide array of apps for entertainment and productivity.
