Hybrids have ‘pasta’ ICE for Ferrari

In a ‘shocking’ twist of high-octane bureaucracy, Ferrari has officially declared war on petrol pumps everywhere by delivering more hybrids than pure gas-powered cars for the first time in its history. Yes, the purveyor of roaring V12s and the unofficial soundtrack of midlife crises delivered a record 13,752 vehicles in 2024, with 51% of those being hybrids, marking a bold new era for anyone who thought their Ferrari would only accelerate upward in noise complaints.

The hybrid invasion doesn’t stop there. The F80, Ferrari’s latest Frankenstein of speed, mashes together a twin-turbo V6 and three electric motors to summon a ridiculous 1,184 horsepower. That’s enough power to outrun a guilty conscience and most private jets. And for those fearing electrification might water down Ferrari’s mojo, the F80 proves otherwise. After all, how else can you explain a car that’s faster than regret yet somehow still environmentally friendlier than your uncle’s diesel pickup?

But wait, there’s more! Ferrari is hurtling toward a future where 80% of its cars by 2030 will either be hybrids or fully electric, threatening to make the growl of a gas engine about as trendy as a flip phone. Don’t panic, purists—Ferrari’s CEO has teased the idea of synthetic fuels, meaning your dreams of screaming past roadside cameras with the symphony of a gas engine might not be entirely extinguished just yet.

Adding fuel (or electrons?) to this fire, Ferrari will debut its first-ever electric vehicle this fall—trading the house-shaking roars of its past for what we imagine will sound like an angry robot vacuum on a rampage. Somehow, orders are already flooding in, with Ferrari’s books full for the next two years, showing that even the rich are ready to fight climate change one hypercar at a time.

As it stands, Ferrari’s hybrid revolution may just save the planet—or at least ensure we can still race to its fiery demise in style.
