OMODA – JAECOO has just unveiled their revolutionary ‘Super Hybrid System’ (SHS), redefining the future of plug-in hybrids in the automotive market. The cutting-edge hybrid platform, built on Chery Group’s third-generation hybrid technology, debuts with the flagship JAECOO 7 SHS, a premium SUV primed to deliver exceptional performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
The JAECOO 7 SHS boasts groundbreaking capabilities, including a remarkable 745-mile (1200km) range and a WLTP fuel efficiency of 403 mpg, setting a new benchmark in the hybrid vehicle segment. Sold at a starting price in the UK of £35,065, its UK customer deliveries are set to commence on January 31, 2025. The SHS introduces an innovative approach, ensuring the battery retains charge levels during use, minimizing the limitations typically seen in traditional plug-in hybrid systems.
Under the hood, the hybrid powertrain includes a fifth-generation 1.5-litre TDGI petrol engine producing 143 bhp (105 kW) and 215 Nm of torque, coupled with a high-performance 18.3 kW lithium iron phosphate battery and an advanced hybrid transmission system. This combination delivers a total output of 347 bhp (255 kW) and 525 Nm of torque. The JAECOO 7 accelerates from 0-62 mph in 8.5 seconds, outperforming standard hybrids and many petrol-powered vehicles, showcasing its potential for both urban commutes and off-road adventures.
The SHS is designed to excel not just in performance but also in environmental responsibility, with ultra-low carbon emissions of 23 g/km.
