2 Nissan’s in UK top 5 best-sellers list

Nissan GB has emerged as a standout performer in the UK automotive market in 2024, becoming the only brand with two models in the top-five best-sellers list – the British-built Qashqai and Juke. Over the past 12 months, 76,872 new car buyers in the UK opted for these popular crossovers. This achievement underscores Nissan’s growing dominance, as overall sales surged by 12.3% compared to 2023, culminating in a total of 100,446 car sales and securing a 5.14% market share, an increase of nearly half a percent over the previous year.

The success of Qashqai and Juke has further cemented the prolific output of Nissan’s Sunderland plant, which remains the UK’s most successful vehicle manufacturing facility of all time. The plant has produced over 11.5 million cars since its inception in 1986, including half a million electrified vehicles in recent years. This milestone not only highlights Nissan’s manufacturing excellence but also reflects the dedication of its 6,000-strong workforce, crucial to the company’s sustained growth.

Diana Torres, managing director of Nissan GB, credited the success to the hard work of the entire organization, including dealer partners, and the strength of the company’s refreshed vehicle lineup. She emphasized the momentum as the company looks ahead to an electrified future in 2025, with a focus on new models like the Ariya NISMO and an expanding electric portfolio. To further enhance its product offerings, Nissan introduced upgraded versions of the Qashqai and Juke in 2024, alongside new variants of the X-Trail, Ariya, and the fully electric Interstar van.

Nissan’s achievements in 2024 extended beyond sales figures. The company earned eight awards recognizing the innovation, quality, and engineering excellence of its vehicles. Among these accolades was a prestigious Autocar award for its UK-based engineering teams led by David Moss. These honors further signify Nissan’s leadership in both the new and used vehicle markets.
