McLaren Automotive has proudly unveiled the new McLaren W1, a groundbreaking successor to the iconic McLaren F1 and McLaren P1TM. This remarkable supercar opens a new chapter in McLaren’s illustrious ‘1’ car lineage, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in high-performance automotive engineering.
The McLaren W1 embodies the principles of what a true supercar should be—epic power, lightweight engineering, unparalleled driver engagement, and advanced aerodynamics. Featuring an all-new V8 hybrid powertrain delivering a jaw-dropping 1,275PS, W1 sets a new standard with the highest output of any McLaren to date, surpassing all core competitors.

The heart of the W1 is its all-new MHP-8 V8 combustion engine, generating 928PS—a record 233PS per litre—and revving up to an astonishing 9,200rpm. Complementing this is a power-dense E-module producing an incredible 347PS, offering instant throttle response and optimizing weight for exceptional performance.

Weighing in at just 1,399kg, the W1 achieves a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 911PS/tonne—the highest ever for any McLaren supercar. The acceleration figures are equally impressive, with the W1 sprinting from 0 to 200km/h (0-124mph) in just 5.8 seconds and reaching 300km/h (186mph) in under 12.7 seconds.
Drawing inspiration from Formula 1, the W1 incorporates revolutionary ground effect aerodynamics, enabling a radical ‘road to track’ transformation. In Race mode, the ride height is lowered by 37mm at the front and 17mm at the rear, generating up to 1,000kg of downforce—making it the fastest-lapping road-legal McLaren ever, outpacing the McLaren Senna by an astonishing three seconds at McLaren’s reference track.

The state-of-the-art active aerodynamics includes McLaren’s first-ever Active Long Tail rear wing, which extends 300mm, contributing to superior downforce management while enhancing performance characteristics on both road and track.
Born from McLaren’s World Championship mindset, the W1 showcases expert craftsmanship with state-of-the-art lightweight materials, including a bespoke Aerocell carbon fiber monocoque. The new Race Active Chassis Control III suspension guarantees versatility and responsiveness in both road and track environments, providing unparalleled driver feedback.

The ergonomic design ensures ultimate driver comfort, with integrated seating and a unique cockpit that embraces the driver, offering an immersive experience. This commitment to the driver is complemented by a 4-year vehicle warranty and a comprehensive 4-year service plan, reinforcing McLaren’s unique ownership experience.
The McLaren W1 will be produced in a limited run of just 399 customer cars, all of which are already allocated. Pricing starts from approximately £2 million, including taxes in the UK, with the final cost subject to the level of customization through McLaren Special Operations (MSO), which offers a virtually unlimited range of bespoke options, including the innovative McLaren InnoKnit tailored interior material.

As McLaren celebrates the 50th anniversary of its first Formula 1 Drivers and Constructors World Championships, the W1 stands as a testament to the brand’s relentless pursuit of automotive excellence. Michael Leiters, Chief Executive Officer of McLaren Automotive, states, “The McLaren W1 is a celebration of both the excellence of the McLaren F1 and McLaren P1TM and the manifestation of McLaren’s World Championship mindset. This revolutionary supercar sets new benchmarks for performance and driver engagement, truly redefining what it means to be a supercar.”
