VW’s ID Range Gets a New Addition

Ever since the dreaded *dieselgate* scandal, Volkswagen have gone all in to the EV revolution. Their ID sub-brand has been leading the charge so far with cars like the ID. 3 and ID.4 but now there’s a new one.

In keeping with the ID theme, the car looks sort of like a normal VW but with a futuristic twist. The front features VW’s new badging along with that fancy grille that has become a staple of the ID range. There’s no air intakes either because it’s an electric car.

The ID.6 sedan rests on VW’s ‘SPACE VIZZION’ platform, a bold move from VW considering the popularity of SUVs in today’s day and age. Think of it like an electric Passat or Arteon but with more space thanks to the floor mounted batteries. Just like its petrol siblings, the ID 6 will come in both a sedan and wagon option.

Being a premium sedan means that the ID.6 comes with a big range, around 700km on a full charge. The entry level model will feature a single motor rear wheel drive layout while the flagship will be a dual motor four wheel drive unit.

The ID.6 is expected to be a strong performer as well. The base model is set to have a 0-100 time of around 8.5 seconds while the top spec model will bring that time to under 6 seconds. VW’s latest ID model will also support fast charging upto 200kW meaning that 200ish km of range can be gained in just 10 minutes!
