Hyundai N Announces Virtual Racing Tournament

Earlier today, Hyundai kicked off its N e-Festival Global League’s qualifying rounds. The racing tournament is a virtual one with players from 13 countries participating in the qualifying rounds. From there, 30 players will progress to the next stage with four wild card players to be thrown in the mix as well! Broadcasts of these races will be played on RaceSpotTV‘s YouTube channel. Expect some high intensity stuff!

The top three players will each receive cash prizes with the winner receiving an added bonus in the form of attendance at Hyundai’s World Rally Team VIP Hospitality Program at the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). At the event, the winner will get to meet the team’s racers and enjoy helicopter tours between venues! Now that is quite something.

The Car

Being a racing tournament, the car is of paramount importance here. Which is why you’ll be glad to see that the car in question is Hyundai’s i30N sedan TCR or the Elantra N as it’s known in some markets. This car comes with some serious credibility behind it with the N seeing success at the World Touring Car Championship as well as at IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. For the best in game experience, Hyundai has partnered with the iRacing game which uses VR to recreate the thrill of actual racing. Legendary race car driver Gabriele Tarquini is also headlining the event, a name that is sure to generate some fanfare around it. Gabriele has a special connection with the brand being the lead test driver before his retirement and also helping Hyundai’s team to multiple titles!
