JK and Land Rover Drive for Mental Health

Land Rover New Zealand has partnered with All Blacks legend and mental health advocate Sir John Kirwan on a landmark drive across New Zealand to raise awareness – and money – for mental health. The goal is to raise enough money to roll out JK’s charitable initiative, Mitey, to 40 more schools and benefitting 11,000 Kiwi children.

Land Rover New Zealand partnered with JK on his epic trip, providing him with a Land Rover Defender 90 to complete his 2,100km road trip across the country.

Land Rover New Zealand CEO Steve Kenchington said: “We want to create an environment that future generations not only survive in, but thrive in, and are proud to support our brand ambassador and good friend Sir John Kirwan with this historic initiative.”

What’s Mitey?

We need to start paying attention to our mental health at a young age.

Mitey is a New Zealand specific, Years 1-8 approach to embedding mental health education in both teaching and learning by the Sir John Kirwan Foundation. It’s evidence based, will align to a school’s culture and values and is supported by a wide range of curriculum based resources. Teachers have ongoing support from a dedicated, free Mitey coach. The idea is to help Kiwi children stay on top of their mental health from an early age.

Get behind the drive

“I’d ask everyone to dig deep and give what they can to support this important cause. I know we can do it, and I know New Zealanders will get behind this moment. Together, we can change the course of mental health in this country.”
