Isuzu MU-X LS-U, Tough to resist

PRESS RELEASE

Isuzu Utes New Zealand introduces an additional model to their second generation MU-X. It still has all of its SUV capabilities including 7-seat versatility, segment-leading 3500kg towing capacity, and a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, but now has a tough to resist $75,990 (+orc) price point.

Isuzu New Zealand has peeled back a few of the MU-X’s treats to offer a LS-U model that’s big on toughness but smaller on price.

Isuzu Utes New Zealand spokesperson Kimberley Waters says, “The MU-X is a family favourite amongst the rural community and those that have something decent to tow. By introducing a lower-spec option we hope to offer Kiwis a good balance of features and value, in a model known for its reputation, reliability and safety”.

Most of the new MU-X’s styling remains the same, with the ‘Cross Flow’ grille and arrow type LED headlights up front and redesigned LED tail lights and subtle roof spoiler at the rear. The LS-U model drives on stylish 18” alloy wheels which are paired with a full size spare wheel and tyre. The LS-U also still retains a useful power operated tailgate for those excursions into town.

The cabin retains its premium touches with full black trim providing a dynamic and high quality interior finish. The seating upholstery is finished with high quality and durable cloth and there is electric adjustable lumbar support for the driver.

For the powertrain, the LS-U is powered by the same trusty and efficient 3.0L CRDi turbo diesel engine matched with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The MU-X’s legendary go-anywhere ability has also remained, providing you with a SUV that is still as at home up in the backcountry hills as it is out on State Highway One. Wading depth is 800mm for those extra deep crossings, whilst a rear differential lock offers improved traction on slippery surfaces.

The Terrain Command dial in the MU-X LS-U allows you to shift between 2WD and 4WD Hi mode on the move (up to 100km/h) for improved traction when driving conditions change. Otherwise 4×4 Lo is available for when the going gets really tough!

For on-road excursions, there is a range of electronic driving aids to keep you on the straight and narrow. It has an advanced 9” touchscreen audio system with satellite navigation functionality, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. While the 4.2” Multi Information Display (MID) offers a digital speedometer, safety information, fuel economy and range, odometer, trip information, and a service reminder.

The MU-X has been awarded with a 5-star safety rating from independent vehicle safety authority, ANCAP, having scored well across all four key areas of ANCAP assessment. In the official ANCAP statement announcing the maximum 5-star safety rating result, ANCAP commended the all-new MU-X for its standard inclusion of a full suite of airbags, driver monitoring system and intelligent seat belt reminders for all seating positions across all three rows.

Plus, for the ultimate peace of mind, every Isuzu MU-X comes standard with a comprehensive, bumper-to-bumper 3-years/100,000km warranty, and up to 3-years or 100,000km of roadside assistance, whichever occurs first.
