Holden REVEAL NEW PRODUCT AHEAD OF FIELDAYS

Shrouded in secrecy, (well lots of surprises at least), we were invited by Holden NZ to a very involved, Fielday preview event.

Commencing at their Head Office in Mangere, we headed South West on an adventure that included lots of driving across Holden’s wide range of larger vehicles (Commodore, Colorado, Trax and Equinox), a hill climb (unfortunately on foot), a tour of a lighthouse, lunch at Stephen ‘Beaver’ Donald’s homestead and a couple of special reveals – the Colorado Xtreme and the first look at the new Acadia.

Here’s the press release:

A couple of jaw-dropping, show-stopping ‘barn finds’ were part of a pre-Fieldays activation that revealed two exciting new models which will be on display at the Holden stand at the Mystery Creek event next week (June 13-16). The two models are the all-new Acadia, a large executive styled seven-seat SUV, and the new Colorado Xtreme, a special creation inspired by the tremendous response to the original Xtreme Concept LCV displayed at Fieldays 2016.

“The arrival of Acadia in Holden showrooms will bolster the brand’s new SUV model portfolio to five models: Trax, Equinox, Captiva, Trailblazer and Acadia,” said Marc Warr, Holden New Zealand National Marketing Manager. “Sourced from North America but with significant Holden involvement from the beginning of development, Acadia is a game-changer for Holden and the segment.  Not only does it boast high-tech features like 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, heated and cooled seats and the ability to park itself, it’s also great to drive and look the goods, too.”

“The Colorado Xtreme received widespread adulation at Fieldays 2016 so we challenged ourselves to develop a vehicle which could to replicate the appeal of the original,” said Mr Warr. “We have incorporated a number of highly desirable accessories to create the Colorado Xtreme and anticipate there will be significant interest in the new model.”

Key features of the new Colorado Xtreme include winch bar and winch wire harness kit, 18-inch black alloy wheels shod with all-terrain tyres, a black extended sports bar, black tubular side steps, rear step, soft tonneau cover, tow bar, Colorado decal on tailgate and the vehicle is topped off with a striking black roof tray.  The new model will arrive in Holden dealerships in early Q4.

“The Xtreme is no longer just a show concept, it’s a fully functional ‘real McCoy’ four-wheel drive and we expect people to put it to the test in a variety of day-to-day on and off-road situations.”

The arrival of the Acadia, together with the new Colorado Xtreme, further reinforces Holden’s ongoing product renaissance.

“We’ve had an incredibly busy 12-months since the last Fieldays, having launched new models including Astra wagon, Equinox, a number of Colorado and Trailblazer special edition models as well as the impressive all-new Commodore,” said Mr Warr. “A large number of our new model portfolio will be on display in our purpose-built facility at Fieldays and we’re excited to debut the new Acadia and Xtreme at the Mystery Creek event – we can’t wait to introduce people to the new arrivals in the Holden range.”
