Official: Lotus Returns to New Zealand

After months of speculation, it has been confirmed Lotus Cars will once again have a home in New Zealand. The cars of the iconic Hethel based sports car brand will be sold new in New Zealand as part of the Giltrap Group.

Lotus will join Giltrap’s stable of high performance and luxury brands under the name of Lotus Auckland. A purpose-built showroom is currently under construction and is expected to be completed later this year.

Lotus Auckland will be involved in selling and supplying parts and servicing for all Lotus models. “We are thrilled to represent Lotus in New Zealand. It’s a brand with strong motor racing and sports car heritage that has an exciting future ahead with high-performance pure electric vehicles,” says Michael Giltrap, Joint Managing Director of Giltrap Group.

Final Edition versions of the Elise and Exige to be offered for sale in New Zealand.

Available for Kiwi buyers at first will be the Final Editions of the iconic and much loved Lotus Elise and Lotus Exige. These include the Elise Sport 240, more hardcore Elise Cup 250, Exige Sport 390, Exige Sport 420, and the stripped out entirely track focused Exige Cup 430. These will be followed in 2022 by the all-new and much anticipated Emira, the final petrol car to be built by Lotus, before Lotus goes full electric with in years to come.

For Lotus Cars Executive Director of Sales and After Sales, Geoff Dowding, Giltrap Group was the obvious choice for bringing Lotus back to New Zealand. “New Zealand is a key market for us as we continue the transformation of the Lotus business and brand. Those with a penchant for the legendary sports cars which continue the legacy of founder Colin Chapman can view the current Lotus range at the Lotus Auckland Showroom at 172 Great North Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland, once completed and open for business in the fourth quarter of 2021.
